Welcome to Orbital Hoops, a local small business in Calgary dedicated to making and selling high quality hand-made hula hoops. We create adult sized hoops that are easier to spin - because they're made for adult-sized people! It is addictive, fun, and healthy for you. It's a great exercise that is low-impact and actually makes you smile.

Orbital Hoops has been making high quality, adult-size hoops since 2008. We also create children's hoops that are multiple times more durable than those from the toy store or dollar store. No more kinked hoops!

Beginnings

Jamie found hooping in 2008 after seeing an inspiring viral video on youtube.  Living in Lethbridge at the time, there was nowhere to purchase an adult size hula hoop.  She found instructions online to make a hula hoop, and the first hoop was black tubing with grey duct tape!  She wanted to share this new glory with friends and family and began adding new colors with materials found in the hardware store.

Love of hooping

From 2008 - 2011, Jamie was part of a performance group called Orbital Flame.  Fire spinning and LED spinning were a weekly (or more) occurrence, and hooping and fire dancing were a passion for her and the team.  For years, Jamie practiced and taught, and made more hoops to share with strangers to invite them to this amazing blissful activity, sharing the joy of being inside a hoop.

Sharing with you

We know the joy that hula hooping can bring, and it's something we want to share with you!  The hooping community is welcoming and friendly, and we welcome you to experience the happiness that hooping has brought us!  In many cases, hula hooping can change lives for the better, or aspects of people's life.  It's not a cure for an unhappy life, but becoming active can bring clarity to thought.  Be careful, hula hooping can be addictive!  But it's an addiction that we support :)
